Jesus’ First Miracle at the Wedding Feast in Cana

(1) John was in the desert preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (Mk 1:4) (1) There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. (Jn 2:1)
(2) The people of Jerusalem, all of Judea, and the whole region around the Jordan, went out to him. (Mt 3:5) (2) Also there, were Jesus and His disciples. (Jn 2:2)
(3) And they were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. (Mt 3:6) (3) With the wine failing, the mother of Jesus said to Him: They have no wine. (Jn 2:3)
(4) From Nazareth came Jesus to be baptized by John in the Jordan. (Mk 1:9) (4) Woman, what is that to me and to you? My hour has not yet come. (Jn 2:4)
(5) Seeing Him John protested: I should be baptized by you, yet you come to me! (Mt 3:14) (5) His mother said to the servants, Do whatever He says to you. (Jn 2:5)
(6) Jesus answered: Bear with it for now that we may fulfill all righteousness. (Mt 3:15) (6) Jesus said to them, fill those six stone jars with water. And they filled them to the brim. (Jn 2:7)
(7) As He came out of the water, John saw the Spirit of God descend upon Him like a dove. (Mt 3:16) (7) Then He said to the servants, draw from stone jars and take it to the chief steward. (Jn 2:8)
(8) A voice from the heavens said: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Mt 3:17) (8) When the chief steward tasted the water made wine, he called for the bridegroom. (Jn 2:9)
(9) The Spirit immediately drove Him into the desert where He would fast and pray for forty days and be tempted by Satan. (Mk 1:12-13) (9) It is customary to serve the good wine first and later a lesser vintage. But you have saved the good wine till now. (Jn 2:10)
(10) Seeing Him on His return, John exclaimed: Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (Jn 1:29) (10) This was the first of Jesus’ signs and His disciples believed in Him. (Jn 2:11)

Jesus Preaches the Kingdom of God and the Need for Repentance

The Transfiguration of the Lord

(1) The kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe the gospel. (Mk 1:15) (1) Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and went up onto a mountain to pray. (Mt 17:1, Lk 9:28)
(2) I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Lk 5:32) (2) While praying, He was transfigured and His face shone like the sun (Mt 17:2, Mk 9:2, Lk 9:29)
(3) The tax collector struck his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. (Lk 18:13) (3) And His garments became whiter than any fuller could make them. (Mt 17:2, Mk 9:2, Lk 9:29)
(4) Unless you repent, and become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of God. (Mt 18:3) (4) Moses and Elijah appeared speaking with Him of His exodus in Jerusalem. (Mt 17:3, Lk 9:31)
(5) Her many sins are forgiven because she has loved much, whereas little is forgiven the one whose love is small. (Lk 7:47) (5) Waking from sleep, the three disciples saw Jesus in glory and the two men who were standing with Him. (Lk 9:32)
(6) He sent the Twelve out in pairs, and going forth they preached that men should repent. (Mk 6:7,12) (6) As Moses and Elijah were departing, Peter said: Master, it is good for us to be here. (Lk 9:33)
(7) The kingdom of God is like a merchant seeking pearls. Having found one of great price, he sold all he had and bought it. (Mt 13:45-46) (7) Let us make three tabernacles, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah; Peter knew not what he was saying. (Lk 9:33)
(8) Repent and be converted that your sins may be blotted out. (Acts 3:19) (8) While he was still speaking a bright cloud overshadowed them and they fell to the ground in fear. (Lk 9:34, Mt 17:5-6)
(9) He said to them, “Penance and remission of sins should be preached in His name, unto all nations.” (Lk 24:46-47) (9) From the cloud came a voice saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him. (Mt 17:5)
(10) I say to you, the joy in heaven over one repentant sinner will be greater than that for ninety-nine righteous persons having no need of repentance. (Lk 15:7) (10) Jesus touched them, and looking up they saw no one there but Jesus. (Mt 17:7-8)

 

The Fifth Luminous Mystery

Jesus Institutes the Holy Eucharist

 
(1) Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of the most High God, offered a sacrifice of bread and wine. (Gen 14:18)
(2) God said to Abraham, Take your only begotten son Isaac and offer him as a holocaust on Mount Moriah. (Gen 22:2)
(3) Take a one-year-old, unblemished male lamb, a sheep or a goat and offer it as the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover. (Ex 12:5, 27)
(4) For forty years, as they wandered in the desert, He rained down upon them manna from heaven. (Jos 5:12, Ps 95:10, Ps 78:24)
(5) Taking the five loaves and two fish, He gave thanks, blessed, broke and distributed them to the multitude. (Mt 14:19, Jn 6:11)
(6) Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you will not have life in you. (Jn 6:53)
(7) Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to His disciples saying, Take this and eat it. This is my body which is given for you. (Mt 26:26, Lk 22:19)
(8) Then He took the chalice, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, Take this, all of you and drink from it. (Mt 26:27)
(9) For this is my blood of the new covenant, which will be shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Mt 26:28)
(10) Do this, as often as you drink it in remembrance of me. (1 Cor 11:25)
